Buy Driving License No Test For Immigrants

Migrants may find obtaining a driver’s license difficult. While some states allow individuals with foreign driver’s licenses to exchange them for state licenses, others require knowledge and road tests; often given in English and requiring limited language abilities for passing. Furthermore, some may need to wait several weeks before receiving their driver’s license which makes completing everyday tasks such as grocery shopping or making it on time more challenging.

Immigrants were once able to obtain drivers’ licenses by taking private lessons or enrolling in state-approved driver’s training courses, however many who need a license cannot afford these options and rely instead on family members for transportation needs or may need to leave home due to immigration court hearings or ICE checks-in but can’t afford transportation expenses, thus leaving them unable to work or care for their family members.

New Jersey recently passed a law allowing those without legal status to obtain standard driver’s licenses, an important step forward but not without some controversy. Some drivers have objected to it on grounds that it favors undocumented residents over everyone else, while others maintain that permitting more people to drive will help them find jobs and access essential services more quickly.
