Buy Fake Passport of Cyprus and Be Prosecuted

Cyprus was recently under scrutiny after it issued citizenship to people under criminal investigation or wanted by Interpol and who have been convicted. Now, however, stricter rules have been implemented which prohibit those under investigation, wanted or convicted from purchasing their passport from Cyprus within 10 years of purchasing one from doing so.

They are also targeted by people looking to launder money or flee persecution back home.

Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit recently broadcast a report, The Cyprus Papers Undercover, that exposed corruption behind Cypriot citizenship schemes. This investigation revealed applications from individuals convicted of serious offenses or appearing on criminal wanted lists for other nations.
