Can I Make a Passport Appointment Online?
Make an appointment online for the U.S. Department of State to renew or apply for your passport, though calling first will ensure your chosen location accepts appointments and you have all necessary paperwork with you.
Do not walk into a passport agency without first making an appointment – especially if your need for passport expediency is urgent.
Routine passport service from the clerk’s office usually takes several weeks, while expedited services – which cost an extra $60 – may take as long as 12 weeks, according to their website.
If you need to make an in-person passport appointment, the easiest place is the New York Passport Agency at 376 Hudson Street. However, you can also apply at either of Brooklyn Public Library’s Central or Kings Highway libraries which have official designated passport acceptance facilities.
Make an appointment at Central Library 14 days in advance, and 7 days for Kings Highway Library. Alternatively, book both appointments simultaneously by signing up for library cards in both locations.
At your appointment, you will be required to fill out an application and provide identification and passport fees. Adult passport fees start at $130 while child passport fees cost just $30.
