Do You Need Driving License to Buy a Car?
Cars can be invaluable assets for everyone, including those not legally qualified to drive. Without access to transportation, getting children to school and adults to work may become increasingly challenging. At a recent focus group discussion in the United States with Mexican participants ineligible for licenses shared their experiences driving while being uninsured or risking having their vehicle impounded; many were either unable to afford car insurance policies or risked having it impounded – which forced many participants to forego buying vehicles outright and instead utilize friends’ or public transportation for everyday needs.
Foreigners looking to purchase cars thankfully have options available to them. While no laws prohibit purchasing from those without driver’s licenses, some limitations do exist; for instance if buying from a dealership they will usually assist with registration and title transfer process and require that you present government issued ID to complete transaction and register vehicle under your name – however this could prevent financing through them as most lenders require driver’s license for approval of auto loans.
One way to overcome such restrictions is to obtain your driver’s license. With it in your possession, you can purchase vehicles from dealers and secure insurance policies in your name. Or alternatively, give one as a present to someone without one – an approach often used by business owners who wish to provide employees with company vehicles for delivery or transportation needs.
