Fake Driver License – Is it a Good Idea to Make a Fake Driver License?

As a form of fun or desperation when they don’t possess a driver’s license, migrants often create fake identification documents to fool friends or get around their ineligibility for driving privileges. While it might seem harmless enough at first, should this practice ever become necessary and caught, New York state law will classify this act as criminal forgery in either its second or third degree if caught and prosecuted.

Templates for making driver’s licenses and other official documents can be purchased over the Internet; some people even make a living selling these fraudulent IDs; unlike State issued drivers’ licenses which contain security features like bar codes or holograms that can be verified with UV light.

Employers and government agencies now rely on online services for identity verification, allowing apprehending officers to quickly verify if someone in the country illegally. With technology becoming more advanced, legislators should create laws with severe penalties for those involved with producing, selling or using fake IDs in order to put these thieves out of business and discourage others from considering using them – as this would be the most effective means of combatting identity theft and fraud.
