Passports and Fashion for Women
Attentiveness to detail and looking your best are essential when taking passport photos; after all, this photo will be on public display for at least 10 years! Although it might be tempting to go all-out with crop tops or bold patterns in a passport photo is key – in fact, the State Department has some strict regulations about what’s allowed and not.
Style can still play an integral part in passport photos; just be mindful about which clothing choices you make. For example, when wearing necklaces and bracelets that stand out such as pendants, make sure that they won’t get cut off in the final photo; also avoid off-the-shoulder or boat neck tops that might cropped out and make you appear naked.
Keep in mind that your hair cannot obscure your face; don’t attempt to pin it back like Kim K or hide it under a headband or barrette. Also remember that makeup should remain simple: too many earrings, chunky necklaces or too much eyeliner may become distracting features in photos and cause overly dramatic effects.
